Step-by-Step Guide for Importing into Nigeria
Before Shipment:
Register your company name in Nigeria and obtain a Certificate of Incorporation/Registration.
Register your company with the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) and obtain a Tax Identification Number (TIN Number).
Select a Bank in Nigeria to act as the Authorised Dealer Bank (ADB).
Import Process:
Obtain Regulatory Certificates, e.g., Product Certificate (PC), for regulated items.
Activate the PC on the online single window.
Open a Form M on the Nigerian Trade Platform (Single Window System) and submit it to the ADB.
Review/validate Form M by the ADB and send it to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
NCS accepts or rejects Form M.
If accepted, forward a copy of Form M to the exporter for further processing.
Activate the SONCAP Certificate and apply for Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) issuance.
PAAR is issued, and the clearance of goods commences.
